It’s nearly Christmas Dinner time! We hope organising all the Christmas Day festivities is going smoothly. Here at Willowbrook Foods, the Christmas Dinner is by far our favourite part of the festive period. From the turkey and stuffing to the roast potatoes and vegetables, what isn’t there to love? Obviously, we never forget about the vegetables here at Willowbrook Foods!
Here are some of the essential vegetables for your Christmas dinner:
Potatoes
It wouldn’t be a proper Christmas dinner without potatoes. Whether you have your potatoes baked, mashed, roasted, scalloped or grilled- they can make or break your dinner. Covered in gravy and alongside some Yorkshire puddings, potatoes are the most filling part of your dinner. Potatoes are also perfect if you are cooking for any vegetarian or vegan guests. Here at Willowbrook Foods, we produce a wide variety of potatoes, freshly cooked and produced from the finished ingredients.
Carrots
Crunchy, colourful and fresh, your Christmas dinner wouldn’t be complete without carrots! Carrots can be cooked in many different ways such as, steaming, boiling, roasting, stir frying and microwaving. While they are also delicious, carrots also are good sources of fiber, potassium and antioxidants.
Brussels sprouts
Love them or hate them, you can’t deny classic brussel sprouts are an essential part of any Christmas dinner. There are also ways to add a bit of extra flavour and goodness to your brussel sprouts. Sweet flavours that can be added to your brussel sprouts are;
-Apples
-Dried Cranberries
-Basil
-Maple Syrup
-Brown Sugar
Cauliflower Cheese
Looking for something a little bit different to accompany your Christmas turkey? Why not try the popular choice of cauliflower cheese? Delicious and high in fiber and B-vitamins, this is a perfect side dish to go with your dinner. The perfect way to cook cauliflower cheese is to steam the cauliflower as this prevents the sauce from becoming watery and keeps the consistency.
Parsnips
Roasted Parsnips are bursting with flavour and add a delicate crunch to your Christmas dinner. They are a staple vegetable for your Christmas menu. To add some extra flavour to your parsnips you can add maple syrup, brown sugar, garlic and nutmeg. Alongside roasted carrots, they make for the perfect, nutritious side dish.
At Willowbrook Foods we have a comprehensive range of freshly prepared vegetables that are ready to cook and are perfect for your dinner. Providing vegetables to customers across Northern Ireland and Ireland, we would love our products to be a part of your Christmas dinner.
From everyone here at Willowbrook Foods, we hope you have the best Christmas dinner!
