Healthy Snack Recipe Ideas

At Willowbrook Foods, we are passionate about nurturing healthy eating and balanced diets. In honour of World Health Day 2024, here are some of our favourite fun, easy and healthy snack recipes:

Rainbow Veggie Wraps:

Ingredients: Whole grain wraps, hummus, assorted colourful vegetables (e.g. bell peppers, carrots, cucumbers, and avocado) and spinach or lettuce leaves.

Directions: Spread a layer of hummus onto each wrap, then fill with thinly sliced vegetables and leafy greens. Roll up tightly and slice into bite-sized pieces for colourful and nutritious wraps.

Fruit Kebabs with Yogurt Dip:

Ingredients: Assorted fruits (e.g. strawberries, pineapple, kiwi, grapes, and melon), wooden skewers, Greek yoghurt and honey (optional).

Directions: Thread the fruit onto wooden skewers in a colourful pattern. Mix Greek yoghurt with a drizzle of honey for a delicious dipping sauce. Serve the fruit kebabs with the yoghurt dip for a refreshing and nutritious healthy snack.

Baked Sweet Potato Fries:

Ingredients: Sweet potatoes, olive oil, salt, pepper and paprika (optional).

Directions: Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Peel and cut sweet potatoes into thin strips. Toss the sweet potato strips with olive oil, salt, pepper, and paprika (if using) until evenly coated. Spread the sweet potato fries in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.

Quinoa Salad Jars:

Ingredients: Cooked quinoa, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, bell peppers, feta cheese, olives, fresh herbs (e.g. basil or parsley) and balsamic vinaigrette.

Directions: Layer cooked quinoa and chopped vegetables in mason jars, alternating with crumbled feta cheese and olives. Top with fresh herbs and a drizzle of balsamic vinaigrette. Seal the jars and refrigerate until ready to eat. Shake the jars before serving for a delicious and portable quinoa salad.

Greek Yoghurt Parfait:

Ingredients: Greek yoghurt, granola, mixed berries (e.g. strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries) and honey (optional).

Directions: Layer Greek yoghurt, granola, and mixed berries in parfait glasses or mason jars. Drizzle with honey if desired. Serve immediately for a healthy snack option or breakfast.
